ebA Multivitamin Supplement is a unique multivitamin supplement conceived by board-certified practicing dermatologists and rheumatologists for patients taking isotretinoin or acitretin and for patients with or at risk for osteoporosis.
ebA Multivitamin Supplement IS NOT A PRENATAL VITAMIN AND IS NOT INTENDED FOR PREGNANT OR NURSING WOMEN.
Our dermatologists have treated thousands of patients with isotretinoin (trade names: Accutane®, Sotret®, Amnesteem®, Clarivis®) for acne and acitretin (trade name: Soriatane®) for psoriasis and other conditions. With appropriate dermatologist-supervised monitoring, isotretinoin and acitretin are very safe drugs. However, both are closely related to Vitamin A and share similar potential side effects. For this reason, the FDA cautions against using vitamin supplements containing Vitamin A when taking isotretinoin or acitretin. In preparing their patients to start isotretinoin or acitretin, our dermatologists discovered that a high percentage of these patients were taking multivitamins, all of which contain Vitamin A. In view of the potential for overlapping side effects, these patients are advised to discontinue taking their multivitamin. They are advised they may take individual vitamins, but none that contain Vitamin A. Spurred by the fact that taking a number of individual vitamins is quite inconvenient and costly and that most patients miss taking their multivitamin, ebA* (*everything but “A”) Multivitamin Supplement was developed.
Additionally, it has long been recognized that individuals with osteoporosis benefit from supplemental Vitamin D and calcium. Recent studies1,2 have shown a likely link between excessive dietary Vitamin A intake or Vitamin A supplementation and increased risk for brittle bones (decreased bone mineral density) and fracture. ebA Multivitamin Supplement addresses these concerns. It contains supplemental Vitamin D, and because it has NO Vitamin A, individuals with osteoporosis may confidently continue on a multivitamin, knowing it is both beneficial and safe. It is also recommended that individuals with or at risk for osteoporosis take separate calcium supplementation under physician guidance.
ebA Multivitamin Supplement is manufactured by a leading U.S. manufacturer of pharmaceutical and nutritional products, and distributed by Saratoga Therapeutics, LLC. While you still need the daily requirement of Vitamin A in your diet, for the first time you can safely and conveniently continue with a single multivitamin (excluding Vitamin A) for your entire isotretinoin or acitretin course or during treatment for osteoporosis. Consult your physician should you have any question whether this supplement is right for you.
